About
My start in woodworking is probably pretty similar to many people. I was in need of a chicken coop and squawked at the price. My thought was that I could definitely build it for cheaper. Well, it turned out I could not not. All the chickens escaped and ran around. I guess woodworking is a skill, a skill that I have been honing and working on for years. What started there was an interest in what I could actually make with my own hands.
I am a teacher by day and this idea of learning, exploring, being curious and setbacks really pulled me into woodworking. I didn't it all figured out immediately, but there was a passion for learning and growing.
What started as a little project to see if I could just build an enclosure for some chickens morphed into an evening hobby after work and on the weekends. I found immense joy in being able to add things to my house and say "hey... I built that!" Neighbors would walk by my house and see my covered in sawdust and struggling to lift sheets of plywood by myself. Occasionally I would get asked to build a little free library, some garden boxes, a nightstand. I enjoyed being able to build things myself and add a little bit more of a story to things around the house as opposed to point, click, add to cart furniture.
I make home items with intention and care. Every piece is thoughtfully designed to feel personal. Thank you so much for finding my small corner of the internet. I hope I get to make something for you.
